Alison Krauss is about to not win the Mercury Music Prize

Musician Alison Krauss pauses for a photo as she arrives at the 2008 Mercury Music Prize ceremony. This was at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England on September 9, 2008. The Mercury Music Prize (later called just the Mercury Prize) is an annual music prize for the year's best album released in the United Kingdom by a British or Irish act. Krauss is an American, but she was nominated that year for Raising Sand, her collaboration with British artist Robert Plant. The winning album turned out to be The Seldom Seen Kid by the band Elbow.
