Eleanor Roosevelt smiles for the camera

A portrait of Eleanor Roosevelt as she looked in 1933, the year she became First Lady. Although it's hard to tell due to fuzzy background focus, she appears to be wearing a very tall corsage on the left side of her dress. Eleanor Roosevelt was born in 1884, so she turned 49 the year this photo was taken. She remained in the White House until her husband's death in office in 1945.
