Carolyn Murphy Biography

Carolyn Murphy succeeded actress Elizabeth Hurley as the professional face of Estee Lauder cosmetics in 2001, putting her in magazines and print ads worldwide and moving her into the ranks of the elite supermodels. The self-proclaimed "beach girl at heart" had already been named Model of the Year at the VH1/Vogue fashion awards in 1998, and had appeared extensively on the cover of Vogue and other high-fashion magazines. In 2005 she was the cover girl of Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit issue, and by 2007 she was reportedly one of the highest-paid fashion models in the world.

Extra credit:

Murphy married surf instructor Jake Schroeder in 1999 and their daughter, Dylan Blue, was born in 2000; the couple divorced in 2001... Murphy told Sports Illustrated that the people she admires most are "primatologist Jane Goodall and undersea explorer Jacques Cousteau."
