Garry Moore Biography
Though he is sometimes forgotten now, Garry Moore was one of the leading TV personalities of the 1950s. He was the easygoing host of the Garry Moore Show, an afternoon variety show mixing skits, monologues and guest performers like Don Knotts and Jonathan Winters. The show, a big hit, ran from 1950-1958. (Moore later hosted two evening versions of the show with the same name.) Moore also hosted the game show I've Got A Secret for more than a decade (from 1952-1964, when he was succeeded by Steve Allen) and the game show To Tell the Truth from 1969-1977.
Extra credit:
Moore co-hosted a 1940s radio show with comedian Jimmy Durante... Moore's panelists on I've Got A Secret included game-show favorite Bill Cullen.
