Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock Holmes

Actor Jeremy Brett offers a piercing look in his role as Sherlock Holmes, the great consulting detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle. Brett played Sherlock Holmes in a series of British television series and specials from 1984-94.

When Brett died of heart failure in 1995, The New York Times called him the "quintessential Holmes: breathtakingly analytical, given to outrageous disguises and the blackest moods and relentless in his enthusiasm for solving the most intricate crimes." They were right! Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock Holmes.
