Patricia Arquette Biography

Patricia Arquette is a leading lady of television and movies, known best for her role in the TV series Medium and for her Oscar-winning role in Boyhood (2014).

From a family of actors, she broke into movies in the late 1980s and has worked steadily ever since. Although Arquette isn’t known for box office smashes, her filmography is marked by working with a variety of unique filmmakers: Sean Penn (1991’s The Indian Runner); Tim Burton (1994’s Ed Wood); David O. Russell (1996’s Flirting with Disaster); David Lynch (1997’s Lost Highway); Martin Scorsese (1999’s Bring Out the Dead) and Michel Gondry (2001’s Human Nature).

Patricia Arquette played the mother in Richard Linklater‘s film Boyhood, which was filmed over 12 years as the young protagonist (played by Ellar Coltrane) grew from age 5 to age 18; the role won her the Oscar as best supporting actress.

Her other memorable films include 1993’s True Romance (opposite Christian Slater), 1999’s horror thriller Stigmata, and 2003’s Holes (starring Shia LeBeouf).

On TV Arquette won an Emmy for Medium (2005-11), co-starred in the cable drama Boardwalk Empire (2013-14) and landed the lead in 2015’s CSI: Cyber.
