Zoe Saldana Biography

Zoe Saldana starred in the movie Avatar as main love interest Neytiri, and as Uhura in the 2009 and 2013 Star Trek films. A slim New Yorker of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent, Saldana’s breakout role came as a sassy dancer in the 2000 movie Center Stage. She then joined Johnny Depp as a pretty pirate in the 2003 sequel Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Besides small roles in several dramas and a short-lived television series (Six Degrees, 2006-07), Saldana had major roles in the blockbusters Avatar (directed by James Cameron) and the rebooted Star Trek, both released in 2009. She also appeared in the thrillers Vantage Point (2008, starring Dennis Quaid) and Takers (2010, starring Clifford “T.I.” Harris and Idris Elba), before playing Uhura again in 2013’s Star Trek: Into Darkness (starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto).
