How Fit is Rafael Nadal?

Fit enough to play a 5-hour, 14-minute match on Friday night, then a 4-hour, 23-minute match on Sunday night. Fit enough to do it in Australian summer heat.

Fit enough to beat Roger Federer (again) and win the Australian Open for the first time.

It's the sixth major for the 22-year-old Nadal. Federer was denied his 14th major, which would have tied him with Pete Sampras for the all-time record.

Nadal has beaten Federer on the way to all six of his major wins: In the semifinals at the 2005 French Open, and then in five straight finals: At the French Open in 2006, 2007, 2008, at Wimbledon in 2008, and now at Australia 2009.

Often enough to give Federer fits.
