Kerouac Videos
Today marks the 40th anniversary of Jack Kerouac's death (at the age of 47). For some Kerouac-related media, we recommend this archive called Digital Beats. The brief video clips include a rambling and bored Kerouac having a halfway conversation with the insufferable host of Firing Line, William F. Buckley, Jr; Allen Ginsberg talking about Kerouac (and staring at his grave marker with Bob Dylan); and CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite announcing Kerouac's untimely death.

Bob Dylan Analyzes the Presidents
BF: Do you remember any particular battle that [Ulysses] Grant fought? The Times interviews singer Bob Dylan. The conversation starts out with Barack Obama and somehow moves on to Civil War ghosts haunting Elvis.
BD: There were a lot of battles but the Shilo [sic] one is most interesting. He could’ve lost that. But he was determined to win it at any price, using all kinds of strategies, even faking retreat. You could read it for yourself.
(Meanwhile, Phil Collins says his life now "revolves around the Alamo." What's up with the musicians these days?)
Dylan's new album, Together Through Life, is due out later this month.
(Tip from the Daily Dish.)
