Happy 250th, Horatio Nelson!

Gallant British admiral Horatio Nelson was born 250 years ago today in Norfolk, England.

Here’s a fascinating little roundup of Nelson’s many injuries: “As well as musket ball wounds, he was also beset by malaria, scurvy, dysentery, heart-stroke, toothache and — unhelpfully for a naval man — seasickness.”

Of course, he also lost an eye and an arm in battle. The glamorous life of the sea!
