Sweden has announced which internationally famous Swedes will appear on their new banknotes, scheduled for circulation sometime in 2014 or 2015.
They say they’re going to put children’s author Astrid Lindgren on the 20 krona note, and soprano Birgit Nilsson on the 500 krona note.
Others include film legend Greta Garbo on the 100 krona bill, troubadour Evert Taube on the 50 krona bill and former U.N. Secretary-General Dag Hammerskj¨old on the 1000 krona bill.
They’re creating a new denomination, the 200 krona bill, and the famous Swede for that note is film director Ingmar Bergman.
As of today, 200 krona is the equivalent of about $32.
