'Marmaduke' Movie Lives Up to Its Inspiration

Oh dear god no. The Marmaduke movie trailer has been released.

Jeepers, what a cast: Academy Award nominee William H. Macy, Fergie, George Lopez, Ron Perlman, Kiefer Sutherland, and Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman as Marmaduke.

(Just kidding about Hoffman. Owen Wilson plays Marmaduke, and for this he returned to the movies?)

It's a running joke at Who2 HQ that the caption of every Marmaduke newspaper cartoon ever run could be replaced by the phrase "Stupid #@*$*# dog!" with no loss of humor or meaning. Nice to see the true spirit of Marmaduke live on in the movie!

How the handlers of this weary Eisenhower-era franchise convinced Hollywood to turn it into a movie in the 21st century is something of a mystery. So congratulations to them. They are the true miracle workers of Hollywood. And we look forward to Dustin Hoffman gobbling moonshine in Snuffy Smith: The Movie, plus Bette Midler and James Caan as The Lockhorns, very soon.
