Mark Felt, the Watergate informant known as “Deep Throat” who helped uncover the lies and lawbreaking of Richard M. Nixon, has died.
“Secret Tips Toppled Presidency” is how The Washington Post subheads its lengthy obituary. The Post also has awesome Watergate story archives. [Note to the Blogger community guidelines team: Mark Felt was nicknamed Deep Throat as a wry nod to the title of a naughty film that was popular during the Watergate era. That does not make this a naughty post! We are just reporting historical fact here.]
Mark Felt was 95. Here’s a salute to him; he did his bit for the republic.
