The Art in the White House

  • The Freelance Review has a glimpse at art chosen for the White House by First Lady Michelle Obama.

There’s a folk art theme, some abstracts… a different look that made news in 2009. The permanent collection of the White House in this Wall Street Journal piece from then is described as “a wonderful record of America’s 18th- and 19th-century classical artistic strengths,” which means a lot of them are boring.

We borrowed this one, “Watusi (Hard Edge)” by Alma Thomas, from 1963. And we encourage you to visit Freelance Review, because they often have galleries of awesome photos.
