Fred Durst

Rock Musician

Name at birth: William Fredrick Durst

Fred Durst is the front man for Limp Bizkit, the popular metal-hip hop hybrid band. The group's vocalist and acknowledged leader, Durst first grabbed attention for his theatrical bad-boy ways, multiple tattoos, and slacker-look goatee and floppy caps. Limp Bizkit was created in 1994 and during its early heyday included Durst, guitarist Wes Borland (b. 7 February 1975), sonic specialist DJ Lethal (b. 18 December 1972), bassist Sam Rivers (b. 2 September 1977), and drummer John Otto (b. 22 March 1977). The group's albums include Three Dollar Bill Y'All$ (1997), Significant Other (1999), the oddly-named Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000), Results May Vary (2003), and The Unquestionable Truth, Pt. 1 (2005). Durst has also dabbled in the movies, acting in the 2005 movie Sorry, Haters and directing the feature film The Education of Charlie Banks, which according to the Internet Movie DataBase is due for release in 2007.

Extra credit: Before hitting it big with the band, Durst served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a tattoo artist.
