John Mayer attained pop stardom with his first album, Room For Squares (2001). A breakout hit in 2002, the album earned Mayer TV guest spots and spawned the hit song "Your Body is a Wonderland." Known for guitar-oriented pop and soulful lyrics, Mayer followed his overnight success with a 2003 Grammy (for Best Pop Vocal Performance) and two more releases: the live performance CD Any Given Thursday and the studio release Heavier Things.
