Lyndon B. Johnson

Lyndon B. Johnson is sworn in as the new president of the United States, hours after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

The swearing-in took place aboard Air Force One at Love Field in Dallas, Texas, on 22 November 1963. Judge Sarah Hughes does the swearing-in. Johnson is flanked by his wife, Lady Bird Johnson, and by Jacqueline Kennedy (right), widow of the president.
