Gregory ‘Pappy’ Boyington

Gregory 'Pappy' Boyington in a U.S. Marine Corps photo, circa 1943. Boyington was shot down the next year and spent the rest of World War II in a Japanese prison camp.  He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor after the war for his exploits in the air over the South Pacific.
