Adam Sandler in ‘The Longest Yard’

Adam Sandler (in red jersey) gestures in savvy manner in this scene from the 2004 comedy The Longest Yard. With him, from left, are Bob Sapp, Dalip Singh, and Chris Rock. The film was a remake of a 1974 film, which starred Burt Reynolds in the Sandler role; both told the fictional story of Paul Crewe, a prisoner and former pro football player, who organizes a football game between his fellow inmates and the prison guards. We believed Burt Reynolds as a former pro quarterback more than Adam Sandler, but your mileage may vary. A bigger stretch was imagining that a charismatic former NFL quarterback would actually be convicted of a crime *and* sent to prison. But we digress.
