Amelie Mauresmo whacks a tennis ball

Tennis pro Amelie Mauresmo keeps her eye on the ball during action the second round of the Hastings Direct International Championships on June 15, 2005. The tournament is a tune-up for the grass court championships at Wimbledon a few weeks later. Mauresmo was ranked number 3 in the world at the time, but lost the match. She bounced back to make it to the semifinals at Wimbledon, losing in three sets to Lindsey Davenport. She won the singles championship at Wimbledon the next year, in 2006. Amelie Mauresmo was born in 1979, so she turned 26 the year this photo was taken.
