Galileo Galilei: A portrait at age 72

A portrait of famed astronomer Galileo Galilei -- often known simply as Galileo. The portrait was done in 1636 by Flemish artist Justus Sustermans (who was also known as Joost Sustermans). The portrait later became part of the collections of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. Galileo lived from 1564 to 1642, so if 1636 is truly correct, then Galileo turned 72 the year this portrait was painted.
