George McGovern

A photo of Senator George McGovern during his first visit to Vietnam in November of 1965.  McGovern was an early opponent of the Vietnam War, and made it the centerpiece of his campaign for president in 1972.  He won the Democratic nomination that year but lost to incumbent President Richard Nixon in the general election.
