Greta Garbo, on a steamship and not alone

A photo of Greta Garbo (left) with the Swedish actor and film director Mauritz Stiller, taken on August 17, 1925. They are aboard the ship Drottningholm, which was at the time operated by the Swedish American Line. Garbo was already a big star, and only later did she become the "I want to be alone" publicity-shy person we now tend to remember her as. The photo is from the National Photo Collection in the Prints and Photographs Division of the U.S. Library of Congress.  (LC-F8-36787)
