A photo of J. Edgar Hoover in 1961

A photo of F.B.I. director J. Edgar Hoover, taken in what looks like his office, on September 28, 1961. Hoover was born in 1895, so he turned 66 years old that year. It was also the first year of the presidency of John F. Kennedy.

This image is now held in the U.S. Library of Congress as part of the U.S. News & World Report collection. As noted on Wikipedia, "This photograph is a work for hire created between 1952 and 1986 by one of the following staff photographers at U.S. News & World Report: Warren K. Leffler, Thomas J. O'Halloran, Marion S. Trikosko, John Bledsoe, Chick Harrity."
