Jordan Spieth Biography

Jordan Spieth is the talented golfer who won the 2015 Masters and the 2015 U.S. Open at the young age of 21. A victory in the 2017 British Open put three legs of the career grand slam in his bag before he was 24.

Jordan Spieth grew up in Dallas and was a top-class amateur golfer as a teen. He attended the University of Texas for a year and a half (2011-12), leading the Longhorn golf team to the 2012 NCAA championship before leaving to turn pro for the 2013 PGA season.

Speith was an immediate success on the pro tour, winning the John Deere Classic in July for his first tour victory, finishing the year with $3,879,820 and being named the PGA Rookie of the Year. The next year, at age 20, he shared the 54-hole lead at the Masters before fading on the final 18 and losing to Bubba Watson; but that year he won over $4 million.

The next year he did break through at the Masters, winning the 2015 edition of the prestigious major by four strokes with a four-round total of 270 — tying him with Tiger Woods for the tournament’s all-time low score. Two months later he won the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay in Washington state, shooting a 5-under-par total of 265 to beat Dustin Johnson by one stroke.

Spieth had to wait two whole years for his next major win, in The Open Championship (AKA the British Open) at Royal Birkdale in July of 2017, where he battled with Matt Kuchar on the final day en route to a 10-under-par score of 268 for the tournament.
