Still from the movie FRANK

FRANK is the new film from acclaimed director Lenny Abrahamson (Adam & Paul, Garage, and What Richard Did) and written by Jon Ronson (The Men Who Stare At Goats) and Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Men Who Stare At Goats). Based on the memoir by Jon Ronson, FRANK is a fictional story loosely inspired by Frank Sidebottom, the persona of cult musician, and comedy legend Chris Sievey, as well as other outsider musicians like Daniel Johnston and Captain Beefheart..

With the large papier-mâché head and puckish spirit of Frank Sidebottom, the raucous tyrannical energy of Captain Beefheart, the tender heart of Daniel Johnston and the body of Michael Fassbender, FRANK is the most mysterious and enigmatic of frontmen. .

When a young wannabe musician, Jon (Domhnall Gleeson), is drawn into Frank’s orbit and joins his band of eccentric pop musicians, he soon discovers he's bitten off more than he can chew. Can he survive the terrifying rage of bandmate Clara (Maggie Gyllenhaal), and will he ever find out what’s going on inside the head inside the head? . FRANK opens in cinemas nation-wide from Friday 9th May..
