Young Les Paul with his homemade harmonica holder

Les Paul strums a guitar with a harmonica on a crude holder, in what is said to have been in the late 1920s. For reasons unknown, Paul seems to be dressed as a sailor. Les Paul was born in 1915, so that would make him somewhere between 10 and 14 years old here. Wikipedia says that Paul began playing semi-professionally at age 13, and notes that "During this time he invented a neck-worn harmonica holder, which allowed him to play both sides of the harmonica hands-free while accompanying himself on the guitar." It all adds up!
