Marilyn Monroe on a USO tour in Korea

Marilyn Monroe throws her arms wide as she performs for United States troops in Korea in 1954. This was the year after the Korean War ended in 1953. Monroe had just been married to American baseball star Joe DiMaggio, and she took time out from their honeymoon in Japan to do a USO tour of American bases in Korea. Monroe did 10 shows over four days, performing for about 100,000 service members, according to Smithsonian records.
