Martin Luther King, Jr.

The "Stone of Hope" sculpture at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the Washington National Mall.  Carved by artist Lei Yixinhe, the 30-foot-high statue was inspired by a line from Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech: "Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope."

The memorial opened in 2011 with a speech by President Barack Obama.
