Mary-Louise Parker wins an Emmy

Actress Mary-Louise Parker holds up her Emmy Award at the 56th Annual Emmy Awards at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The date was September 19, 2004. You may be thinking, as we were, that this Emmy was for her work in the TV series Weeds. Not so! That show didn't begin until 2005. Instead, she was named outstanding supporting actress in a miniseries or movie for her role as Harper Pitt in Angels In America, HBO's adaptation of Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize-winning play. Harper Pitt, per Wikipedia, is "an agoraphobic Mormon housewife with incessant Valium-induced hallucinations."
