Monica Seles on a tiny little tennis court

Ah, the things tennis stars do to promote their sport (and sponsors)! Here Monica Seles works to remain distinguished as she hits a tennis ball to Jim Courier (not pictured) on August 19, 2006, on what is described as a "pop-up tennis court on Fifth Avenue." Sadly, the name of the bank sponsoring this 8-foot-long tennis court is obscured by Monica Seles's legs. The whole crazy event was intended to "celebrate the start of Wimbledon on the 23rd of June," although Wimbledon is held near London, not in New York City. At this point, Monica Seles was done with top-level tennis but not officially retired: she played her last pro match at the 2003 French Open, but didn't formally retire until 2008.
