Front row, from left: British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt, and USSR Marshal Joseph Stalin at the palace in Yalta, where the Big Three met in February 1945 to discuss the progress of World War II. (Roosevelt died two months later, on April 12, 1945.) This was also known as the Crimean Conference.
