Jimi Hendrix’s blue plaque in London

Three former associates of rock guitar legend Jimi Hendrix lean out a window next to his new blue historical marker (or blue plaque) in London, England. They are, from left: Noel Redding, bass guitarist in the band The Jimi Hendrix Experience; Kathy Etchingham, Jimi Hendrix's girlfriend; and Pete Townsend of the rock band The Who. Jimi Hendrix died at age 27 in 1970, but not before establishing himself as one of the great pioneers of modern rock electric guitar. The date of the unveiling was September 14, 1997. The blue plaque is on a house at 23 Brook Street in Mayfair, where Hendrix lived from 1968-69.
