Here’s what Ham the Chimp saw from space (maybe)

What Ham Saw. This view of the Earth was photographed from the Mercury capsule carrying Ham the Chimp on January 31, 1961. (The photo taken by an automatic camera, not by Ham.)

Ham may not have actually seen the view: he was enclosed in a separate pressurized capsule inside the space capsule, and was also kept busy pulling levers to test his response times during the flight. Ham was weightless for a total of 6.6 minutes during his flight, which lasted for 16.5 minutes.
