An unflattering photo of Michael Caine

We're almost sorry to present this photo of the excellent actor Michael Caine, which simply doesn't present him at his best. Ironically, he's dressed in a snappy tuxedo, but the camera (at the London Film Critics Circle Awards) caught him mid-glance. (The blast of a camera flash didn't help.) This was at The Dorcester Hotel in London, England on February 12, 2003. In his 2010 memoir The Elephant to Hollywood, Michael Caine had this to say about movie star looks: "Can you see your nostrils looking at your face straight on? [If so], you won't get the romantic leading roles." He's failing his own test here, with his nostrils clearly visible... but fortunately, he'd gotten those roles already in films like Alfie.
