Orson Welles

Orson Welles broadcasting on the CBS radio network in the 1930s. His Mercury Theater on the Air broadcast of 'War of the Worlds' in 1938 was so realistic that it panicked some listeners into thinking a real Martian attack was underway. Welles moved on to Hollywood in the 1940s, taking many of his Mercury Theater acting colleagues (including Joseph Cotten and Agnes Moorehead) with him.
