Popular funk singer Rick James (left) struts on the red carpet with his daughter on June 29, 2004. This was at the 2004 ASCAP Awards in Los Angeles, California. Although the daughter is not identified in the original caption, this is likely Tyenza James, his daughter with the singer Syville Morgan. Rick James was born on February 1, 1948, so he was 56 the year this photo was taken. Alas, Rick James died of a heart attack on August 6, 2004, just a few weeks after this photo was taken.
