The explorer Roald Amundsen appears in heavy fur in this photo portrait identified as "circa 1912" by Wikimedia Commons. 1912 was the year after Amundsen planted the Norwegian flag on the South Pole. If the photo date is accurate, Amundsen would have been about 40 years old, since he was born in 1872. He looks a little older than that here.
