Shakira, swathed in fuchsia

Pop star Shakira is swathed in a bright pink dress and scarf (or headdress?) as she performs live at the Pavilhao Atlantico in Lisbon, Portugal, on November 21, 2010. This tone of hot pink is often described as fuchsia, after the flower of the same color... although as we look at color swatches now, this may be more of a magenta in tone. Fuchsia, magenta, whatever, she looks sharp.

[ Trivia alert! We've just learned that magenta was originally patented as a dye called fuchsine, but was later renamed magenta "to celebrate a victory of the French army at the Battle of Magenta on 4 June 1859 near the Italian city of that name." So Shakira's outfit could possibly be both fuchsia and magenta. Thanks, Wikipedia! ]
