The Spice Girls at their peak in 1997

Musical supergroup The Spice Girls pose for a photo at the 1997 Billboard Music Awards. This was at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 8, 1997. The Spice Girls are, from left: Melanie Chisholm (known as Sporty Spice, or Mel C), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), and Melanie Brown (Scary Spice, or Mel B).

The Spice Girls were then at the peak of their popularity; they began to break up six months later when Geri Halliwell left the group, though they reunited for several tours and events in the 21st century.
