May 25th: a day that will live in non-infamy!
- Jesse Owens set or tied four world records, also in 1935
- John “Monkey Trial” Scopes was indicted, in 1925.
- Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) beat Sonny Liston in 1965.
- The film Midnight Cowboy, with Dustin Hoffman as Ratso Rizzo, was released in 1969. It became the first (and only) X-rated film ever to win the Oscar as best picture.
OK, so a little bit of infamy there, for the Scopes indictment. How astonishing that Texas is still fighting that same battle today.
