George Lazenby Biography
Actor / Model
The "forgotten Bond," George Lazenby followed Sean Connery as superspy James Bond in the sixth edition of the hit film series. Lazenby was a model with just a few TV commercials under his belt when he was hired. He proved to be a one-hit wonder, starring as Bond only in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969, with Diana Rigg) before Connery reclaimed the role for Diamonds Are Forever in 1971. Lazenby's other films include Kentucky Fried Movie (1974), Master Ninja II (1984) and Fatally Yours (1995, with Roddy McDowall). Lazenby married former tennis pro Pam Shriver in June 2002, after the two were introduced at Wimbledon in 2000. They had three children, but separated and began divorce proceedings in 2008.
Extra credit: After Diamonds Are Forever, Connery was replaced by Roger Moore, who played Bond in seven straight films... On Her Majesty's Secret Service is the only film in which Bond gets married. Bond also participates in a Japanese wedding ceremony as part of his undercover duties in You Only Live Twice, but fans disagree as to whether that marriage was legally binding... Lazenby's marriage to Shriver was his second. Their children are George (b. 2004) and twins Kaitlin and Samuel (b. 2005).
Lazenby appears with Connery and Pierce Brosnan in our loop Played Bond.
