Chris Hemsworth Biography
Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor who stormed Hollywood in 2011 as the star of Thor, the big-budget action movie based on the Marvel comic book character. He has appeared as the character in many films since, including Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Avengers: Infinity Wars (2018).
Hemsworth is from Melbourne, and early in his career he spent three years on the Australian soap opera Home and Away (from 2004 through 2007).
He went to Los Angeles to further his career and made strong impressions in small parts in the films Star Trek (2009 — Hemsworth played Captain Kirk’s father) and A Perfect Getaway (2009, with Timothy Olyphant and Milla Jovovich).
Soon enough, Hemsworth was in the big leagues, starring as Thor in both Thor (2011) and The Avengers (2012), as well as starring in a remake of Red Dawn (2011) and The Cabin in the Woods (2011, a Joss Whedon project).
His other films include Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and In the Heart of the Sea (2015, directed by Ron Howard).
Chris Hemsworth appeared in 2006 on the Australian version of Dancing With the Stars… He is the older brother of The Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth.
