Ashton Kutcher Biography

Name at birth: Christopher Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher is a lanky and irreverent comic actor and the creator of the wacky MTV "reality" show Punk'd. Ashton Kutcher was a college dropout and sometime model when he was cast as guileless knucklehead Michael Kelso in the comedy series That '70s Show (co-starring Topher Grace) in 1998. The show ran until 2006 and made Kutcher a star. While still working on the series, Kutcher began appearing in movies, including small roles in Down to You (2000, starring Freddie Prinze, Jr.) and Reindeer Games (2000, starring Ben Affleck). The surprise box-office success of his 2003 comedy Dude, Where's My Car? was followed by TV's Punk'd (2003-07), in which Kutcher played pranks on celebrities while secretly filming them. (In the first episode, Justin Timberlake was tricked into thinking the IRS was at his home repossessing his goods.) Ashton Kutcher's success also led to tabloid coverage of his personal life, including a high-profile romance with wild-child actress Brittany Murphy (his co-star in 2003's Just Married) and his 2005 marriage to Bruce Willis's ex-wife, actress Demi Moore. (Kutcher was age 27 and Moore 42 when they were married.) Ashton Kutcher's production company, Katalyst Films, has developed a number of TV and online video projects (including the 2008 TV series Miss Guided). An early and enthusiastic "tweeter," Ashton Kutcher became (in 2009) the first Twitter user to have one million followers. Kutcher's other feature films include The Butterfly Effect (2004), The Guardian (2006, opposite Kevin Costner), What Happens in Vegas (2008) and the ensemble romance Valentine's Day (2010). In September of 2011, Kutcher began starring in the hit sitcom Two and A Half Men, replacing the show's controverisal departed star, Charlie Sheen.

Extra credit:
