Bin Laden Still ‘Most Wanted’ 10 Years Later

Just as an aside, Osama bin Laden is celebrating his 10th year on the FBI Ten Most Wanted List.

Usama (as the FBI spells it) joined the list in June 1999, after the 1998 bombings of American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. The Bureau says he is between 6’4″ and 6’6″ tall and weighs about 160 pounds. Among his aliases are “the Prince,” “the Emir,” and “the Director.”

The FBI also notes without comment that bin Laden’s listing was “revised” in November of 2001.

Surely bin Laden is the number one fugitive on the list, but the FBI doesn’t say so. The top ten aren’t ranked, so as to avoid giving fugitives the pride of (or incentive to become) public enemy number one.

Bin Laden still has a $25 million bounty on his head, courtesy of the State Department.
