Bob Crane’s Death, 30 Years Later

Good grief: It’s been three full decades since Hogan’s Heroes star Bob Crane was killed. (Others who died that same year: artist Norman Rockwell and Pope John Paul I.)

The sordid details of Crane’s death have never been explained. His friend John Carpenter was tried for the death 16 years later but found not guilty. The crime remains officially unsolved.

The Phoenix New Times did a massive report on Crane’s death in 1993, after Carpenter was arrested but before his trial. It lays out pretty much every last detail in three parts: part one, part two, part three.
