Kevin McCarthy Dead at 96

Actor Kevin McCarthy has died at the age of 96. McCarthy is best known for his starring role in the original version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the 1956 science fiction classic.

McCarthy also had a cameo in the 1978 remake starring Donald Sutherland and Leonard Nimoy.

Kevin McCarthy was born in Seattle and was orphaned at an early age by the 1918 flu epidemic. He went on to appear on the New York stage in the late 1930s, and received rave reviews for his performance as Biff in Death of a Salesman. His big screen debut was in the 1951 film version, and he was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor.
