A Professor Explains Jeremy Bentham’s Corpse for You

Philosopher Jeremy Bentham is a longtime star of our loop Oddly Preserved, thanks to his unusual demand that his body should be saved, dressed up, and displayed to friends and followers.

Here Professor Philip Schofield of University College London tells the story, as Jeremy Bentham’s corpse looks on.

That’s not Bentham’s real head, of course. The head still exists, but “after the ransome incident of 1975,” permission to see it “has been granted only in exceptional circumstances.”  (Forbes has a photo, however.)

There’s more: you are hereby invited to help transcribe Jeremy Bentham’s papers.
