Obama Claims Democratic Nomination

“Because of you, tonight I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States of America.”

So said Senator Barack Obama last night, after winning the Montana primary and (apparently) clinching enough votes for the Democratic nomination. If the delegate count holds up, he will face John McCain in the general election on 4 November 2008.

Hillary Clinton seemed to indicate that Obama has won the nomination, but has not yet ended her campaign. Now there’s talk of Clinton as a candidate for vice president.

The politics page of The Washington Post is a good place to catch up on the whole story.
