George Zimmerman Ruled Not Guilty in Trayvon Martin’s Death

Mug shot of George Zimmerman, bewhiskered and looking vaguely unhappy

You can shoot a kid in Florida and get away with it.

George Zimmerman has been ruled not guilty in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin last year. As Martin walked home from a 7-Eleven store with Skittles and iced tea, Zimmerman decided that the black youngster looked threatening. He followed Martin in his car, got out with a gun, and few moments later Martin was dead.

The jury apparently believed the argument of defense lawyers that Martin laid in wait for Zimmerman and then attacked him with a deadly weapon: the sidewalk.
